When I was searching for names for our design agency, I made a list of names that resonated with me. I wanted the name to hold not only a strong significance for myself, but to also encompass a story I could pass onto my clients.
I kept coming back to my last name, Patino, it felt too perfect to overlook. One’s own last name may seem like an obvious and easy choice, but it is much deep rooted than that. My father passed away a month prior to me moving to Hawaii. It was a conflicting time for me, a time of necessary growth , it was quite the juxtaposition, losing my father and starting a new chapter of my life where I was going to pursue my dream of creating my own company. At the point of its inception I decided to name my company Patino in honor of my father.
The name is representative of him and how he lived his life, and all the values he in turn passed onto me. He was an honorable man, trustworthy, respectful and got along with everyone. Nobody ever had a negative word to say about my father which always resonated with me. The name holds me accountable. Accountable to honor my family name by paying homage to my dad. Accountable to build upon the legacy he left for me. With the name comes the values I learned from him; Creativity, integrity, persistence, and professionalism. He taught me to be thoughtful and to treat everyone with respect. I’ve carried these values with me my entire life and employ them with my clients, treating each project with the utmost respect.
MARIO PATINO
Owner | Founder | Creative Director
Growing up in the historic San Francisco neighborhood of Hunter’s Point I came from simple beginnings. Having little and dreaming big was how I was raised, the son of entrepreneurs. I learned that if I was going to obtain my dreams I had to be willing to seek.
Seek out who I wanted to be both personally and professionally. This led me down multiple paths in my life where I pushed passed my boundaries. I traveled the world experiencing different cultures and building global relationships based on genuine love and respect. I invested in myself but starting up several businesses where I could merge my business savvy and need to be creative. All of these experiences shaped my life and led me to my dream. Now living in Hawaii for 10 plus years, marrying the love of my life, buying a house, and having a daughter my dream has become my forever. This company is my legacy to my family, both past and present.
